EcoCitizen Working Visit to Costa Rica

(San José, March 2025) Working Visit to Costa Rica: International Conferences, Partnerships, and Research Progress.

Our CEO Adriana González as part of a working visit to Costa Rica visited our partners at the Laboratorio PRIAS, CeNAT at the National Council of Rectors (Consejo Nacional de Rectores – CONARE) in Costa Rica. The National Center for High Technology drives high-impact scientific research and projects, strengthening Costa Rica’s scientific presence and reputation not just as a leader in Latin America, but around the world too. The PRIAS Lab specialises in Earth Observation and is made up of a world-class team of highly-skilled Costa Rican scientists, researchers, and technicians. Adriana and the EcoCitizen team observed first hand the state of the art equipment and programmes in use to monitor and analyse the state of our environment. The visit consolidates a strong partnership between CeNAT and EcoCitizen built on a shared vision of science, innovation, and technology as pillars of a more sustainable future.

EcoCitizen CEO Adriana was also invited to give a keynote conference at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Costa Rica, on “Incorporating the gender perspective in science and technology: beyond the participation of women”. In an event attended by 100 faculty members, VIPs, students and professionals from across the country, Adriana shared data and strategies that not only demonstrate the importance and urgency of developing inclusive policies in all aspects of science and technology, but also pathways to building consensus and implementing them.

As part of the preparations for UNOC3 co-hosted by the governments of France and Costa Rica, EcoCitizen was invited to participate in the Ocean Accounts Exchange held in Costa Rica and organized by GOAP. The international conference brought together more than 100 high-level representatives from governments, multilateral organisations, researchers, and financial institutions. This event aimed to form a coalition of nations committed to the proper management of marine resources, and concluded with the signing of the Joint Commitment to Advance Ocean Accounts by 2030. During this event, EcoCitizen drove the discussions on a global cross-sector consensus for the Ocean and marine ecosystems, as well as contributing technical expertise to the dialogues on governance challenges in Costa Rica and around the world.
