From Costa Rica to Luxembourg, ICAFE and EcoCiudadano are joining forces to protect coffee, its people, and its cultural legacy and heritage.
Extreme weather events, such as out-of-season rainfall and prolonged droughts, are already affecting coffee production in Costa Rica. Coffee cultivation is not only a cultural cornerstone, but also a key driver of the country’s economic and social development. That’s why this strategic partnership aims to promote concrete and collaborative solutions in response to climate change.
The main objectives of this alliance are:
- To collaborate in promoting scientific research, education, and the implementation of practical solutions to tackle climate change in the coffee sector.
- To improve climate resilience of coffee and other related crops.
- To strengthen social and ecological outcomes across the coffee value chain.

In the face of these challenges, ICAFE and EcoCitizen have formed a strategic alliance with the goal of:
- Combining international scientific knowledge with local expertise to protect coffee, its people, and their territories.
- Promoting sustainable, low-carbon, and climate-adapted production practices.
- Boosting the social, environmental, and economic resilience of the entire value chain.

Today, more than ever, partnerships are our greatest asset in the fight against climate change, enabling us to take timely action in the face of the current climate crisis.
