EcoCitizen Chair elected to the Global Commons Alliance Advisory Board

The Global Commons Alliance (GCA) has welcomed five new member representatives to its Advisory Board, among them EcoCitizen’s Chair, Salvatore Coppola-Finegan. The Alliance frames the appointments as advancing its vision of “a just world, on a safe planet”.

Salvatore joins an incoming group that includes Jean Oelwang of Planetary Guardians, Maja Groff of the Climate Governance Commission and Mobilizing an Earth Governance Alliance, Mario Neto Borges of the Tropical Water Research Alliance, and Wendy Broadgate of the Earth Commission and Future Earth. They serve alongside continuing members David Akana of Mongabay, Naoko Ishii of the Center for Global Commons at the University of Tokyo, and Rachel Jetel of Systems Change Lab, under the continued chairmanship of Margarita Astralaga.

Salvatore chairs EcoCitizen’s Board. He is a specialist in environmental and climate governance with fifteen years across policy, science and the multilateral system, and a Research Affiliate at IERN, Campion Hall, University of Oxford. His work centres on how global frameworks hold in the countries that can least afford them to fail, and on keeping the communities closest to those realities in the room as decisions are made.
